Dear Soccer

“Sports do not build character. They reveal it.” -John Wooden

Dear Soccer,

Thank you for teaching me how to be passionate about something, for giving me somewhere to go to forget about all of my other problems. Thank you for getting me out of my boring classes and making me get bus sick for all of our away trips. Thank you for teaching me how to overcome obstacles and deal with adversity. Thank you for helping me grow as an individual and making me realize I am so much stronger than I think I am. Thank you for pushing me to my limits and then a little farther.

Thank you, soccer, for providing me with the greatest friendships and memories that are going to last a lifetime. Thank you for making me spend the night with my teammates, only to wake up at 6AM and go to practice in 20 degree weather. Thank you for giving me 30 more sisters, a family, a happiness. Thank you for being there when I needed you.

Dear soccer,

You are truly more than just a game.

Love,

Chelsea
